With the aim of upgrading the knowledge and skills of the Floridablanca Association of Persons with Disabilities (FAPWD) in bambute or bamboo handicraft making, the DOST-3 through its Expanded Implementation of Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (eCEST) program together with LGU-Floridablanca organized a three-day training last June 13-15, 2019 at the Floridablanca Municipal Training Center. The training was attended by thirteen (13) members of FAPWD and staff of the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) where they were taught by Mark Dean Ayson, Belinda Alafriz and Gilbert Garcia on making home decors and accessories made out of bamboo and recyclable materials.
In addition, the FAPWD was also provided with materials, tools, and equipment to enable them to start their operation. MSWDO Head, Ms. Edelyn Lobo, together with Mr. Edwin Nuguid of the PDAO, expressed their utmost gratitude to DOST-3 for providing assistance to the project which will surely improve the living standards of the PWDs in the municipality. PSTC-Pampanga will be monitoring the project to ensure sustainability of the startup livelihood enterprise.

eCEST PROGRAM ORGANIZES TRAINING FOR MUSHROOM GROWERS IN PANDI, BULACAN

DOST-III through its Expanded Implementation of Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (eCEST) provided assistance to the Sto. Kristo Siling Bata Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SKSBMPC) in Pandi, Bulacan for the improvement of their mushroom production and mushroom chicharon processing facility. The program’s implementation includes the provision and transfer of a technology-based livelihood project thru the eCEST office with the assistance of the Provincial Science and Technology Center-Bulacan.
As part of the project, the DOST – III together with the technical experts of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) conducted a two-day training workshop held at the Center for Tropical Mushroom Research and Development(CTMRD) - CLSU last March 18-19, 2019.
